How Important is the School Zone when Buying a House?

When you’re looking to buy or sell your house- how much does the school zone matter?

Answer?

It depends on the square footage.

If you’re buying a town home or condo, your potential buyer won’t likely be looking at the school district, because people tend to not raise children in town homes and condos.

If, however, you are looking at a 4-5 bedroom house, the school district will be important, because potential buyers likely have children. This is especially true for families with high school aged students, as people are willing to move to have their children in the right high schools.

So, when you’re looking to buy a home with 4+ bedrooms, look into the school district even if you don’t have children that are school aged, as it can affect your re-sale value down the road.
