Today, I’m going to give you the facts on how buyers are finding their homes. This will matter to you as a seller, because if you know where people are finding homes, you can make sure your home is being presented to potential buyers in the right way.
51% of buyers find their new home online. This means you need professional photography, staging, and sometimes even videos. You need an experienced Realtor who knows which key words and phrases will be searched most often so that your home will pop up in the most searches.
28% find their home with their Realtor. If you have a top tier real estate agent yourself, there’s a much better chance that your house will be sold through your Realtor marketing your home to other Realtors who have clients that are looking for homes like yours.
7% find their home through a yard sign or open house. This means you NEED a yard sign (especially in higher price points!) and if you are in a higher price point, an open house could help you! In lower prices points, where homes aren’t on the market for as long, open houses are rarely helpful.
Lastly, 5% of buyers find their home from a builder (think new construction) and the last 3% find their home from someone they know. This has tripled since 2016, which may show the increase of homes being shared on social media.
