Most of us are familiar with websites like Redfin, Zillow, Realtor.com, Trulia, etc. While these might be fun to browse, if you are actually intent on purchasing a home, you don’t want to use these sites.
Why?
Because they are all syndicate sites. That means that their information comes from another site and they don’t have their own information. In Utah, the source of real estate information comes from the MLS (multiple listing service), which is utahrealestate.com. That site has the most accurate information because we, as Realtors, are fined if we don’t update our listings and information at least every four days.
The other websites create their interface in order to get your contact information to sell to the highest bidder. Realtors will pay these websites for leads and user information.
Now, in the world of online home shopping, Keller Williams is introducing a new source of information, an app with the most updated information (pulled straight from the MLS), with added resources. It allows you to search by neighborhood, by school district, and more. If you download the app, the only person to have any access to it is you and your Realtor, to help refine what you’re looking for.
